Assassin's Creed Brotherhood: The Fall of the Borgias
1. The Siege of Monteriggioni
The story begins immediately after Assassin's Creed II. Thinking the war is over, Ezio Auditore returns to his villa in Monteriggioni. However, the peace is shattered when Cesare Borgia (son of Rodrigo) launches a surprise attack, murdering Ezio's uncle Mario and stealing the Apple of Eden.
Wounded and seeking justice, Ezio travels to Rome—a city decaying under the corrupt rule of the Templars.
2. Rebuilding the Brotherhood
Rome is too large for one man to liberate alone. Ezio decides to build a Brotherhood of Assassins by recruiting citizens who are tired of Borgia's tyranny.
You can train recruits, send them on missions across Europe, and call them into battle at any moment to rain arrows down on your enemies or fight by your side.
3. Taking Back the Eternal City
Throughout the game, Ezio works with historical figures like Niccolò Machiavelli and Leonardo da Vinci (who is being forced to build war machines for the Borgias).
Ezio’s goal is to dismantle the Borgia influence by destroying their towers, liberating districts, and bankrupting the Templar Treasury to restore Rome to its former glory.
4. The Final Confrontation
After recovering the Apple of Eden, Ezio uses its ancient power to wipe out Cesare’s armies. The rivalry ends in a final epic battle at the Siege of Viana, where Ezio finally defeats Cesare, famously stating that he leaves Cesare’s fate "in the hands of Mother Fate."
5. The Modern Day Search
In the present, Desmond Miles and the Assassin team travel to the ruins of the Auditore Villa. Using the Animus, they search for the location of the hidden Apple of Eden to stop the modern-day Templars.
The game ends with a shocking cliffhanger that changes Desmond’s life forever as he reaches the Vault beneath the Colosseum.
