Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is an action-adventure open world stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the sixth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, and was released worldwide for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U in October 2013 and for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in November 2013.
The game follows Edward Kenway, a British pirate and Assassin who stumbles upon the Assassin-Templar conflict during the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 18th century. The main story is set in the West Indies and spans from 1715 to 1722, with the player exploring the fictional islands of the Caribbean.
Black Flag introduces new gameplay elements to the series, with a greater emphasis on naval combat and exploration. The game features three main cities: Havana, Kingston, and Nassau, which reside under Spanish, British, and pirate influence, respectively, and numerous islands, sunken ships, and forts.
